"I just wanted to express my appreciation of the Youth Achievement Center and the services it provides to Leavenworth County. I have been a Court Services Officer in Leavenworth County for the past 20 years and I can say that the YAC has been one of a small number of organizations that has continued to provide support for the youth in Leavenworth County over the past 10 years. You can't measure the enormous benefit our youth receive from the consistent and reliable support of this organization. It's a place where kids can have a positive connection with the community. I can't think of a better way to prevent crime then to provide a place where kids can experience success, learn social skills, and have fun. We are lucky to have such a place and I hope the community continues to support the YAC. I have seen it change the lives of so many youth and you can never put a price on our youth- they are our future!" ~Linda Huggins
On February 1, 2009, this comment was provided to us via email on our website:
"I just wanted to say what a great opportunity it has been to work with those who volunteer at the center and all the wonderful boys and girl who attend regularly. My husband & I are proud and blessed to be a part of the growing group of men and women that continue to take a stand for our youth today in the city of Leavenworth. Since the New Years Eve lock-in @ the YAC we have had many youth begin joining our weekly Saturday Youth Program. Many teens have expressed that it was the most fun they had ever had and are asking when we will do it again. Thank you so much for all your assistance in making it happen."
On April 28, 2009, this comment was sent to us via email:I am writing to thank you and your staff. I was trying to have a fundraiser for my son to raise money for him to go on a trip to Washington DC. because he was nominated through school, but the school does not fund the trip. On a very short notice you worked us right in. Without hesitation you did not charge us. Which it was a blessing in it self considering I did not have the extra money to be paying for the use of the building. It is so wonderful how you work with low income families to make dreams come true. Even when I notified to say that the program gave my son a scholarship you still allowed a Valentines party at no charge. The children had a blast. I just want to thank you for everything. |
